EMM connectors
Two rows of plastic connectors with a pitch of 1.27 mm
Plastic connector two lines with a pitch of 1.27 mm.
The EMM connector is a cutting-edge solution designed for applications requiring compact, lightweight, and highly modular connections. Featuring a 1.27 mm pitch, the EMM connector offers a 40% size reduction compared to Nicomatic’s CMM series, making it ideal for modern, space-constrained electronic systems. The connector incorporates replaceable crimp contacts.
Suitable for wire-to-wire, board-to-board and board-to-wire configurations.
The EMM connector provides high modularity in choosing the number of contacts starting from 04 contacts up to 60 contacts. You can get the connector with or without a chain.
Key Features:
- Compact Design: 1.27 mm pitch with a modular design, enabling configurations from 4 to 60 contacts.
- High Performance: Complies with MIL-DTL-83513 and MIL-DTL-55302 standards, offering exceptional reliability.
- Crimp Contacts: Replaceable contacts for flexible wire-to-wire, board-to-board, and board-to-wire setups.
- Lightweight Build: Durable yet lightweight for weight-sensitive applications.
- Wide Compatibility: Supports wires ranging from AWG24 to AWG30.
Main Advantages:
- Vibration resistance of up to 15G.
- Shock resistance of 100G.
- Durability for up to 1,000 mating cycles.
- Current transfer capacity averaging 2.5A per contact. (between 1.8 and 4.8 depending on the amount of contacts and the definition of the connector: number of contacts, working temperature, and the type of contacts for wires or PCB)
- Various Dapina (fixings) accessory options for enhanced functionality.

EMM Panel Backshell
The EMM panel backshell enhances the versatility of the EMM connector by converting it into a robust, 360-degree shielded panel-mount solution. This feature provides EMI protection and mechanical reinforcement from the panel to the metallic braid.
Panel Side Configurations:
- Male or female connectors.
- Options for 4 to 60 contacts.
- Straight signal contacts for PCB (through-hole or SMT) or cables.
Backshell Side Configurations:
- Male or female connectors.
- Options for 14 to 60 contacts (custom configurations available on request).
- Straight signal contacts for cables.
Additional Options:
- 90° PCB configurations.
Advantages:
- Compact and lightweight panel solution.
- 360-degree shielding for EMI protection.
- Reduced conductivity breaks.
- Ruggedized for demanding environments.
Advanced Design Features
Reversed Male Contacts:
- Enhanced mechanical protection with secured wiping length.
- Copper alloy construction with 0.75µm gold plating.
- Adapted for PCB-to-PCB configurations and misalignment tolerance.
Clip Technology for Female Contacts:
- “Mosquito” clip design for reliable performance.
- Copper alloy outer layer (0.125µm gold) and beryllium copper inner layer (1.27µm gold).
LCP Housing (Liquid Crystal Polymer):
- Thin but robust wall thickness.
- High-temperature resistance.
Interchangeable Hardware:
- Guiding and locking functions adaptable between male and female connectors.
Captive Screws:
- Fast and secure locking solution.
- Eliminates the risk of losing screws.
- Simplifies assembly and maintenance.
Polarization Keys:
- Prevents incorrect mating.
- Ensures no electrical contact in case of misalignment.
Leveling Pad for PCB Contacts:
- Supports soldering inspection, PCB washing, and degassing during the soldering process.
Modular Configurations
PCB Options:
- Standard contacts: 3.5 mm for PCBs up to 2 mm.
- Long contacts: 4.5 mm for PCBs up to 3.5 mm.
- Available in straight or 90° through-hole and SMT configurations.
Cable Options:
- Supports AWG24 to AWG30 wires.
- Available pre-wired or for crimping.
Pin Count Arrangements:
- Configurable from 4 to 60 signal contacts.
Specialized Solutions for AWG24 Wires
To accommodate AWG24 wires, a PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) piece is added to increase the diameter of the contact, ensuring compatibility with standard insertion tools.
The EMM connector combines advanced engineering, modularity, and performance, meeting the most demanding requirements of aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. For more information, contact us to explore how the EMM connector can fit your specific needs.
